I stopped just after the second paragraph when I read “automating scientific discovery” because I had to find some more information on this subject. “How in the world would scientific discovery become automated,” I wondered. The first article I found soon after had some interesting answers, and a quote that I had to write down immediately: https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2017/04/can-scientific-discovery-be-automated/524136/.
With just a final project to go for my bachelors in computer science/systems (my program is blurry on the lines) I’ve started to hear the buzzword of “big data” for the past few years now and I’ve become hungrier to find new outcomes of this amazing resource for datasets. While I’m not an AI or machine learning programmer myself, I’ve been intrigued by the possibilities it has in all aspects of human life, and how it will shape humanity moving forward. I believe you’re correct, that AI has already started to take over and we rely on it more than the commoner knows. It’s interesting all the new applications that come out exclaiming “AI” or “machine learning” is being used, and more interesting those applications that don’t announce it, yet you can see the computer learning or adapting to how you use the application. The more I hear about it, the more invigorated I become in what’s to happen next, and how.
Great article and interesting read, thank you for the new perspective!
